ACE HIGH WESTERN
17 ISSUES IN .PDF FORMAT
ON USB FLASH DRIVE
Ace-High Magazine started as a general adventure pulp, published by Readers' Publishing Corp (a division of Clayton Magazines) in September 1921. They published some 246 issues, mainly on a twice-monthly basis, and even spawned a short-lived companion magazine called Ace-High Novels, but the magazine finally folded in June 1933. One pecularity of this phase is that the penultimate issue was printed as both "May 1933" and "First May Issue 1933", although the issues were otherwise identical.
The magazine was revived five months later by Dell Publishing, who retained the magazine name but shifted the emphasis heavily to Westerns (the tag-line on the magazine cover changed from "Western, Action and Sports Stories" to "Western! Action! Adventure!"). However, this version lasted for only 15 issues before the magazine folded again in January 1935.
The title was then picked up by Popular Publications in August 1936, who further emphasized the Western content by renaming the magazine to Ace-High Western Magazine and by adopting the yellow background on the cover that was synonymous with Westerns at the time. It also restarted the issue numbering at v1 #1. Bizarrely, however, after only seven issues under this name, the title reverted to Ace-High Magazine and after a further eight issues seems to have reverted to the issue numbering of the original magazine.
